I am preparing to head to Tegel to fly to Austria then to the Slovak Republic to speak at a conference on Web2.0, PR, and marketing! #
Ok, I am checked in at Berlin Air. Ready to fly to Wien (Vienna) and then being driven to the capital of Slovakia. #
I remember arriving in Europe, ten years after having spent any time here. I was so confused and turned-around. Now, I am pretty used to it. #
I was such a hayseed. The toilets were weird. The system was change-oriented for money. Euros expect — demand — exact change. #
Loose change is so important that even MEN have cherished change purses. Fumbling in line for Euro and Cent coins is really poor form. #
However, spending a few second counting out the right change in line is perfectly OK, strangely enough! #
Now I just fear that I didn’t bring enough business cards. When I am concerned with that, I am sweating the small stuff (I am a worrier) #
I am flying from Tegel to Vienna. Then a driver is taking me to Bratislava, either to speak at a conference or for an elaborate kidnapping. #
I am flying Air Berlin, a discount airlines. I think my flight was something like €60 return to Vienna. Mind you, Berlin is close to Vienna. #
Arrived in Vienna. Waiting to deplane. Arrived safely. Looking forward to the drive to Slovakia today. #

They’re playing the entire “best of” play list of Depeche Mode here at the Pivnica U Kozla bar. How bizarre. #
I finally understand Berlin! Berlin is MUCH more Central Europe than has ever been Western Europe. Slovakia is Berlin but more raw and poor. #
The soundtrack of Bratislava is Western songs from the 80s and 90s and today. So much English music and so few English-speakers! #
Now I have to see if I am rockstar enough to find my way back to my fly European mod hotel room, sans map! #
I stumbled into another bar that just played Pink Floyd “The Wall.” Quelle bizarre! Either way, I am out of the cold again w/ live music. #
I know from experience that Rock and Roll is not American. People around the world consider it their own, even in Bratislava, Slovakia. #
@seanbohan No! One just needs to approach every city as if it were Bratislava, Slovakia. I don’t even treat Berlin with such amazement! #
@seanbohan My advice: explore New Jersey as if you were from another planet with another culture! My New Years (in Nov) resolution. No envy! #
